The AD Construction Group signs up to London’s pioneering carbon management scheme.
The AD Construction Group, has today joined London’s premier carbon club by signing up to a pioneering carbon management scheme backed by the Mayor of London, the Green500, which aims to address carbon emissions and take action against climate change.
The Green500 is an environmental programme funded by the London Development Agency to support the Mayor's target to cut emissions in the capital by 60 per cent by 2025. The Green500 intends to bring together large organisations with a significant presence in London and encourage them to work together to reduce the city’s carbon emissions.
The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson,
said:
'I am delighted to welcome AD Construction Group to the Green500. In difficult economic times it makes great business sense to cut carbon and save money off energy bills. I want to build a low carbon capital with the help of our leading companies to boost our competiveness and protect our environment.'
Steve Doyle – Managing Director – The AD Construction Group speaking today stated-
“As a responsible and environmentally aware company AD is proud to be involved with the Green500. As a local SME contractor committed to sustainability and heavily involved in the Eco Upgrade and Retrospective Refurbishment markets – carbon reduction is of paramount importance to AD.
We are glad that the Mayor has introduced this initiative and hope it will help to raise awareness of the simple measures that can be taken, that can have a fundamental impact on carbon reduction - not only setting the standard for others to follow, but also helping to make London a nicer place for us all for years to come.
If all London businesses were to commit to the Green 500 - imagine how rapidly we could reduce the emissions in London – the proven success of this initiative could potentially lead to other towns, cities and countries committing to similar pledges and the results could be vital in reducing the worlds emissions.”
Each organisation that signs up to the Green500 is assigned a dedicated carbon mentor who works alongside the signatory to develop a tailored plan to reduce their carbon footprint and save money. Signatories to date include Marks & Spencer, The London Eye, TfL, Chelsea FC, Boots, The Natural History Museum and more.
The prestigious group will come together for an annual awards ceremony, hosted by the Mayor – Boris Johnson, who will present members with a Green500 certification to mark their achievements, as well as a variety of special awards for high achievers.
