According to the Existing Homes Alliance the government target of 80% Carbon Dioxide (CO2) reduction by 2050, requires energy efficiency renovation of as many as 450,000 existing homes every year. The anticipated average investment required per property is around £23,000 (based on 6 generation homes).

So what is the solution...?

Retrospective refurbishment can be as comprehensive, or as basic as required.

Every property has the potential to benefit from retrospective refurbishment and environmental upgrade. Choosing the most efficient solution for the property type and its use is the first step in creating a solution that will provide tangible, measurable results.

What is Retrofit?

Retrofit is making adaptations and upgrades to existing property stock in order to reduce the level of CO2 emissions generated. It also includes using materials sourced from sustainable resources and making considerations of whole life cycle costing.

Why Retrofit?

45% of all current carbon emissions come from existing buildings, with 27% from housing.

87% of existing buildings will still be here in 2050 CLG (communities and Local Government) is the lead department of HMG concerning the built environment.

The government’s target is an 80% reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 2050.

To achieve this target there needs to be energy efficient renovation of 450,000 existing homes every year (according to The Existing Homes Alliance)

The anticipated average investment size 23,000 GBP (based on 6 generation homes – pilot programme achieved 60% CO2 reduction target)

The total market size: 10 – 12 billion GBP / year for 41 years, 410 – 492 billion GBP.
